Yamaha P200 stage piano with flight case
Yamaha P200 88 key stage piano with custom made Swan flight case. I have refitted the internal speakers and transformers for this sale, but these are easily removable. The power cord has been removed and replaced with an IEC socket. The acoustic apertures underneath have been taped up. This is one of the best stage pianos Yamaha ever made – it can really take a hammering – and it sounds fantastic even now compared to the current Yamaha, Roland and Nord stage pianos. The keys are fully weighted with a wide dynamic range (velocity sensitive). This is essentially just a stage piano. There are organs, EPs and strings etc on board, but don’t expect too much, they’re pretty basic, the focus is on the piano sounds. The main stereo piano sound is absolutely killer. This keyboard comes into its own as a combined stage piano and master keyboard. There are 12 hot keys on the front panel to instantly access all your midi synths. The piano has a large flat top panel which allows you to place sheet music or another keyboard on top whilst still accessing the P200’s buttons and sliders – no need for a double keyboard stand. The internal speakers are designed for home use – nice and loud. If you need a stage piano that can stand up to a loud rock set up, this one really cuts through the mix – I’ve yet to find a stage piano to beat it in this respect. It may be basic but it really does the job. This actual piano has travelled around the world and has been played by artists such as Jack Bruce, John Mayall, Deborah Bonham, Jools Holland and Uli Jon Roth. Although very tatty, this piano is fully functional. If using it as a home piano, I would replace the strip of felt above the keys to reduce key noise, but this doesn’t matter on stage so I’ve never done it. Also there is a small hole in front of one of the keys (see pictures). This doesn’t affect performance. The flight case external dimensions are (approx) 1452mm x 523mm x 188mm. The internal dimensions are (approx) 1390mm x 460mm x 130mm. These are also the approximate dimensions of the piano which is a snug fit in the flight case. The case was custom made to fit this piano by Swan Flight and has wheels fitted. The case and piano together weigh approx 38.5kg. The piano itself weighs approx 26.5kg. Priced at the cost of a cheap flight case, so grab a bargain. I have a second P200 piano which does have the acoustic soundboard, but with no speakers and the LCD doesn’t work. But it functions perfectly well with the same sounds and midi capability. I’ve kept it as a spare but never needed it. You can take this free of charge if playing full price for the listed item.
